First Blues Record:
My first real blues record purchase was a “stack”
of 45rpm Blues records made possible by my “Paper Route”
money. As I recall, Little Walter, B.B. King, and Jimmy &
Walter’s “EASY,” were in that stack.
Music Career Focus: My musical focus is the same
as my life focus: Continued growth and understanding of all things
creative. The creative process consists of Germination, Assimilation
and The Final Stages of Incompletion.
Recordings: Chuck Howard, Phil Gary, Soul Searchers,
In Men, Shilos, Slinky & Surprize, Finishing Touch and Columbus
Ohio’s own “Supremes.” (Slinky and Surprize
record was produced by Rock and Roll legend Freddy Cannon)

Personal
Statement: Robert Hughes:
"Blues is a form, NOT a formula! You’d be surprised to
learn how many musicians do not understand this. Many “non-bluesers”
think its all been done before. The best, most inovative, “brealthrough”
blues break I have ever played, has yet to occur!
" Blues, to me, represents the ultimate challenge to communicate
a personal vision with feelings and emotion. The powerful “aesthetic
response” that a blues listener feels, emanates from a simple
yet complex sub-system of Tension/Resolution management. " |
